With all the pollutants and chemicals that we have in the environment, body detoxification is all the more crucial. This is perhaps why more and more people are availing medical procedures that help the body to detox either through a special diet or a chemical that you ingest. But though these procedures are considered safe and effective, some people still prefer the natural way to detox, perhaps because of the price tag involved. Detox procedures in clinic can cost large sums of money while the natural way can cost you less than nothing.
What can you do help the body detox? Here are some tips.

1. Drink lots of water

Drinking water is the number one item on the list that you should do if you want to detoxify the body. It is not called the universal solvent for nothing. Water balances the body’s acidity and cleanses the body. It neutralizes some toxins, that way they would not be hard to flush out or filter. Just imagine cleaning a clogged pipe without water.

2. Antioxidants

Antioxidants are chemicals in the food that we eat that help convert fat-soluble toxins to water soluble. That way, the toxins can be easily flushed out from the body, giving the liver a huge break from duty. Foods that are rich in antioxidants are citrus fruits, green leafy veggies and green tea.

3. Green leafy veggies

Aside from containing anti-oxidants, green leafy veggies have cellulose which helps make excretion easier. Cellulose act as fibers in the body which aids in flushing out body wastes.

4. Live a healthy lifestyle

One thing that you can do to help your body detox is to not add to the toxins that are already inside the body. That means lessening your intake of junk foods, foods that are oily and fatty foods. These kinds of foods make the liver work double time. You should avoid taking in too much alcoholic drinks and if possible, stop smoking altogether, which is a burden for the lungs, which filters the air that we breathe.

This may already be a clich but the body needs some exercise in order to keep the organs inside active. Just think about a machine that is not being used anymore. It gets stale. Without exercise, fats in the body can accumulate, which can hamper in their daily functions.
